Southbourne and Beyond… a special place!
Southbourne is the most easterly suburb of Bournemouth, Dorset. To the south the Parish is bounded by the beautiful, sandy, Blue Flag beaches along the shores of Poole Bay, and to the north the marine facilities along the picturesque banks of the River Stour. Hengistbury Head and Mudeford Spit have been visited for more than 12 000 years as evidenced by the superb artefacts in the new visitor centre.
Leisure and Entertainment
Our area is well provided with leisure and entertainment facilities. The Regent Centre in Christchurch caters for films, stage productions & art exhibitions. Bournemouth has the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and Pavilion Theatre. Further afield there is the Lighthouse in Poole and Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Classic FM orchestra of the south, regularly performs at the Pavilion and the Lighthouse.
Indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including sailing, rowing and golf clubs, abound in the conurbation and Hengistbury Head Outdoor Education Centre is a wonderful asset located in our parish on the edge of Christchurch Harbour.
